lol... well up to you, to each his own. Personally i feel that freedom of thought is something that most people do not even have an opportunity at. People to a certain extent are blinded by all that goes on around them. The existence that they live is confined by their needs and urges. I personally would like to use our present day lives as an example. We are all living a lifestyle that is above average. We all get to enjoy good lives, crime rate is low, we are all fed and clothed. These circumstances all tend to a certain extent confine us or define us. We do not have the exposure hence resulting in us lacking the depth of thought to fully carry out our ideas. We become limited not just by our minds but by the lives we lead due to the environment we live in. To an even greater extent our mind chooses to close off that which we do not wish to hear. Thoughts that show us the true nature of the lives that we lead, an illusion of perfection, are shut out to prevent us from breaking this illusion. Thus we are again confined and this time we place the confinement upon ourselves. Do we dare to think beyond that which surrounds us? Reality is something that has to be lived to be fully understood, to explores all areas of life not this top 5% that almost everybody in our class mixes with. What about the other 95%, the people that truely make up singapore? what is their life like? Have you bothered to go look and check it out?

Personally i know that i have barely managed to scratch the surface off this problem. But at least i admit to living a life that is unreal.

Adam's comments are fascinating per say(: I agree with much of what he says, but I would never say school is sian. Everyday is a new day to learn; What we have in classrooms is nothing; if you pause to think about it, we are learning how to answer questions, not ask them. Knowledge, as Adam has put it, can be attained if you want to. School is a time for me to enjoy time with everyone of you. I've never had much of a blood family, thus I've always been grateful for everyone of you(: *sob sob* Also, school is a place to learn life lessons. Although it is kinda sheltered compared with the outside, but we can have out little sim city anyway (: Its these lessons that trumps any numeracy, literacy, science, liberal arts we learned(:

I've never been a big fan of our "institutionalised intellect". It is obvious that we are all here in Hwa Chong because of our inherent gift: intellect. It is a potential we've all been granted, the matter is how we can maximise on it. The structure of the school does not allow us enough room to venture into our own area of interest, thus resulting a lack of willingness sometimes to give it our best. Grit and bear on(: Its just a little while more before we start on our path on to our true destiny.

Adam have mentioned mistakes. It is within human nature to live in denial; sometimes our own sinful pride gets in our way. Pride is the folly that rejects aid when need:( Everything is just a matter of choice. No one can make you do anything without your consent. A lesson is repeated in many forms until you truly learn it. Everyone else is just a mirror to you own soul, they can show you what you lack. The rest is up to the incredible you(: With subunit cooperativity between friends, you can find the strength within yourself to overcome it, become greater in the process.

Freedom is also something I personally do not usually dabble with, for I'm quite unfamiliar with the varying degrees of freedom. But do we all not have the freedom of thought? That is the highest thinking our brain can grant us. I've played a game, 10 years ago, and i've read this useful story in it, think about it, a little food for thought:

"A man lit three candles on a certain day each year. Each candle held symbolic significance: one was for the time that had passed before he was alive; one was for the time of the his life; and one was for time that passed after he had died. Each year the man would stare and watch the candles until they had burned out.

Was the man really watching time go by in any symbolic sense? He thought so. He thought that each flicker of the flame was a moment of time that had passed or one that would pass.At the moment of abstraction, when the man was imagining his life and his existence as a metaphor of the three candles,he was free: not free from rules of conduct or social constraints, but free to understand, to imagine, to make metaphor."

Freedom is limited only by your own mind.

Take a deep breath, Believe you can do more with it than the previous one.

Do you feel free?

Glad to have his internet back,
Hao Tian(:

Heylo I am bored again...dun understand it I guess I’m just damn frustrated with the ways things are occurring now. Why must we waste time over useless test? Sigh I can't wait to get jc over and done with and get on with my life. Its become so dull this constant monotony. Come to school stone and lame around while we attempt to absorb new information. Following which we have a mindless test to assess our competency in that subject. School to a certain extent becomes pointless as it would be rather obvious that if we did not have a good grasp of the knowledge we gain we would check with teachers or go through materials again and again till the concept is understood. Therefore tests are redundant! However the problem arises when we have to face the reality of our situation. Foremost is the fact that for some unknown reason most people are unable to grasp their true weaknesses. They do not understand where they have gone wrong. It would be rather blatant that if doing things one way does not seem to be producing results than one should try a different alternative. No people just attempt the same thing in the same way just that with a greater intensity. Also when people do not understand a concept they should get to the root of it to truly decipher what it is that they do not understand yet on the contrary people ask vague and random questions that do not solve their root problem. Therefore I believe that to truly excel one has to make mistakes and than analyze them through and through to achieve the best possible conclusion and with this conclusion deduce what is the next course of action.

Sry for that long rambling but am feeling extremely bored and was stoning at my table thinking random thoughts when I came upon this rather interesting line of thought. Hope if you guys go the time think it through and tell me whether you agree or disagree and why? (: it would be greatly appreciated.

And by the way the true reason I first came online for was to post another rather interesting quote. It’s from the movie kingdom of heaven which rather touched my heart. It has got to deal with faith and honor and stuff which even though may not apply to our present circumstances but are still none the less rather intriguing.

Holiness and Goodness:
Holiness is in Right Actions, and
Courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves
Goodness - what God desires is in your head and in your heart, and
What you desire to do everyday will determine whether you are a good man or not.

Who are you?
You are not what you are born, but
What you find in yourself to be.

Jerusalem:
Jerusalem is a place for prayer for persons of all faiths
The Holy Land, The Kingdom of Heaven is a Kingdom of Conscience

Rather interesting stuff eh touches a tender spot in your heart doesn't it? Well it does me (:

Hello hello your friendly neighbourhood neanderthal here. Well been stoning around the house and flipping through my notes and stuff in essence mugging lol. Anyway am so bored that i shall blog! woo how interesting...

Anyway to be honest i have nothing politically correct to blog about anything i truely feel like saying is probably only going to get me burnt on a stick when i go to school tomorrow that is if you guys are even free to check the blog today (: . . .

but i shall leave you with another rather interesting pros i came upon. Some of you'll have probably heard it before or heard me talk about it, its rather famous and i believe rather appropriate seeing that most of us fear our exams and dread it. For quite a few it is this fear that drives us to study with such intensity, undying fear of failure. Honestly i see nothing wrong in failing. To fail is to grow and learn, opening new oppurtunities. Contrary i fear not being able to make mistakes at all for when this happens than i would not be able to learn more about myself and hence mature and develop. Anyway here it is.

I must not fear, fear is the mind killer
Fear is the little death that brings total destruction.
I will face my fear,
I will permit fear to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past.
I will turn the inner eye to see its path
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing
Only i will remain.

Hey everyone, what a quiet holiday this has been. I hope the June holidays won't be as quiet! We've got to at least have a class outing or something. Well it looks like most of the performing arts groups are having their concerts coming up, and as a class we should go support them! For example strings has already started publicising their Fatal Attraction!

Of course I think it will be really painful for our wallets if we have to go and support every concert..just hoping that we'll all make an effort to at least go for one! From what I know there's already Band, Choir, CO, Guitar, Strings?.. (In alphabetical order of course) Sorry if I miss out any group! But yeah, let's support each other and buy tickets. Our class didn't go for Huang Cheng sadly but it was really nice (Karen and I did) and I quite enjoyed it! Go for more of our school performances!

Study hard now anyway, it'll be over in a week or so and I am dreadfully looking forward to that!!!

WE NEED SHOPPING AFTER BLOCKS. SHOPPING!

Well hmmm those were very interesting poems and were definitely touchy to read (:
I know you guys are all probably mugging and stuff and won't have time for this but i have come across this really beautiful prayer, i know many of you'll are not catholic or christian but the beauty of it is that this prayer reflects the way we should lead our lives and i thought it would be nice when you guys come online for a break and stuff to read something like this i find it very uplifting and thought provoking so yeah. Read it, tell me what you think (:

Lord, teach me to be gentile in all events of my life; in dissapointment, in the thoughtlessness of others; in the insincerity of those whom i have trusted; in the unfaithfulness of those whom i have relied.

Let me forget myself, so that i may enjoy the happiness of others. Let me hide the little pain and heartache, so that i may be the only one to suffer from them.

Teach me O Lord to profit from the suffering that comes across my path. Let me so use it that it may mellow me, not harden nor embitter me; that it may make me patient, not irritable; that it may make me broad in my forgiveness, not narrow, proud or overbearing.

May no one be less good for having come within my influence; no one less pure, less true, less kind, less noble for having travelled with me on our journey towards eternal life.

As i meet my cross one after another, let me whisper a word of love to You, Lord. May my life be lived in the supernatural, full of power for good and strong in its puropose of sanctity.

Amen!

Given that the last paragraph was rather religious the rest i feel is very reflective of the way we should lead our lives, a summary of the life of someone who is pure of heart mind and soul. I personally feel it is something i should work towards and i know i have much to make up for hmmm hope you guys think the same...

Lastly i would like to end of with a wonderful quote that my sister told me...

You can muffle the drum, or loosen the strings of the lyre, but who shall command the skylark not to sing?

(Do you not wish to be like the skylark?)

Adam

hello... haven't blogged for a long time. haha... am sorry but i think this is going to be really random. haha... supposed to be mugging like everyone else for blocks. will be mugging... soon. haha. just want to post first =P hehehe... lalala. i'm sure it's not too difficult to identify me. haha. definitely NOT qinyang. haha... whoops. haha.

mmmn... want to share a pretty little poem i read. haha. think it's more applicable for girls though.

The Fringed Gentian

Lift up, thy dewy fringed eyes,
Oh, little Alpine flower,
The tear that trembling on them lies
Has sympathetic power
To move my own, for I, too, dream
With thee of distant heights
Whose lofty peaks are all agleam
With rosy dazzling lights.

Who dreams of wider spheres revealed
Up higher near the sky
Within the valley's narrow field
Cannot contented lie.
Who longs for mountain breezes rare
Is restless down below
Like me for stronger purer air
Thou pinest, too, I know.

Where aspirations, hopes, desires
Combining fondly dwell,
Where burn the never-dying flowers
Of Genius' wondrous spell.
Such towering summits would I reach
Who climb and grope in vain,
Oh, little flower, the secret teach
The weary way make plain.

When whisper blossom in thy sleep
How I may upward climb
The Alpine path, so hard, so steep
That leads to heights sublime.
How I may reach that far-off goal
Of true and honoured fame
And write upon its shining scroll
A woman's humble name.

hope i'm not boring you though... but as i said... this is going to be a very random entry. sigh. lalala. haha... today was a bad day cos certain dreams were shattered today... haha. but do hope it was a good one for all of you. yup ^_^ sigh. as i write myself out, i think of the horrid bts. haha. meaning when i finish... gtg and study. sigh. undesirable, but necessary. haha... good luck to my dears out there. hope things are fine. haha... wanna share another poem. this one is short but really sad. but has this flavour. haha... oh well... goodbye holidays and hello study break. haha.

love, mel

Grey Rocks, and Greyer Sea

Grey rocks, and greyer sea,
And surf along the shore --
And in my heart a name
My lips shall speak no more.

The high and lonely hills
Endure the darkening year --
And in my heart endure
A memory and a tear.

Across the tide a sail
That tosses, and is gone --
And in my heart the kiss
That longing dreams upon.

Grey rocks, and greyer sea,
And surf along the shore --
And in my heart the face
That I shall see no more.

Well this blog seems to be getting deader and deader by the day so shall drop a post to try and elavate this lack of enthusiam to do anything but study that has stricken this poor class of late. Anyway with the block test coming up lately i guess it can't be help lar especially for the s paper students, you guys got to do relatively well to keep your s papers right? so poor thing jia you bah you guys should be able to do it after all if the school gave you'll s papers that would mean they think you guys can cope :).

Anyway for those that are not of our class well a bit of update of whats been going on. Firstly the class test on thursday, that was quite a good day for our class. Surprise surprise our class actually went down and took part actively in PE wow! so shocking, we played volleyball it was very fun though personally as zhi han says i got zero finesse hahaha sigh too rough lar need to sand paper myself a lot sigh but it was good to see the whole class out on the courts and having a bit of fun. Though i have to apologise to vanessa, poor girl at one point was laughing laughing so much she didn't serve the ball that i was like, "just hit it lar!" well probably as usual i was too rough so it came out as a scolding but i didn't mean that :b so yeah SORRY! Anyway so yeah than after that there was lessons again but it was supposed to be a half day of school...however both mrs chengs decided to add lessons!!! how pathetic we ended up only leaving school at 2!!! when school ended at 12!!! What the hell lar!!! sian...

After that the guys went out to go lan gaming! 4 hours worth man talk about it...hahahaha though at one point it was quite hilarious actually confused my own team mate for one of the enemy hahaha it was quite funny of course got scolded by ben big time cause i let one of our opposition team members get away but well sigh nvm lar hor hee hee the past is the past right :D

Than on friday it was another relatively interesting day cause it was hao tian's bdae! to be honest i didn't even remember until joanna told me on wednesday bleahx but as my defence ben didn't know either! our theory is that as good friends of hao tian such things are unnecessary so there! since our friendship is more than just about remembering his bdae :b But yeah so it was his bdae and the lucky chap got tonnes of presents! Really nice ones too like a shirt, a cap, magnets plus a HAMSTER! was so funny we kept playing with it the whole day lar tsk tsk kenna scolded for animal abuse by mr chow hahaha but heck it lar! Poor chap is off back in hao tian's house now doing as he calls it 'sexing' simply put it means breeding with his other hamster. tsk tsk what a queer name for such a natural task.

Than on friday we had PE again and i dun understand why these weird things keep happening to me but i hit yun min with a ball sigh................so pai sei man sorry! i suspect its got something to do again with the fact that i'm as unpolished and rough as granite die lar hahaha but yeah as we were let off late from physics and some of the people in class still wanted to stay back to ask questions we were late for PE by 25 mins! hahaha ben and i both suspected it would happen so we didn't bother changing and just talked and chatted with our pe teacher as we waited for the class to come lol. we spent the rest of pe carrying old equipment around cause the pe teachers were throwing them away. As a reward for our hard work we got to take whatever we liked! yay i got a hockey stick and a tennis racket both jsut need a bit of patching up can liao haha so happy :) maybe can get my friend to teach me hockey :) oh than vanessa got a really cute ancient squash racket was quite cool though i prefered the black one hmmm....to each his own bah.....

CT was another funny ordeal. It was about interview skills was quite cool and the lady conducting the course was very interesting but i guess what she talked about didn't really agree with the way i think bah. She felt we should to a certain extent put on a front that is not truely us...hmmm well i think that if you do that the interviewers are going to choose you or that front you put and not yourself, so in the long run you suffer more and your stuck with a job that your not suited for. Like this example she gave about how her colleague went for an air stewardess interview and the interviewer was a royal pain in the ass, but i guess if you decided to just 'ren' and be nice for the sake of the interview your going to get stuck with a job that has customers that are like that! Royal pains in the butt! so your going to suffer unless you honestly have a very patient and calm attitude...so yeah hmmm....i personally think that you should present yourself as you are, if you are a confident person it would show in the way you talk and work. You should not aim to talk and work in a certain way to show you are confident. But well thats my thinking and as almost everybody in class has pointed out my mind seems to always work on a parallel track but well its gotten me this far and i feel it would carry we on so there :b but there were parts of her talk that i really liked. Like how you should research and find out what exactly your signing up for that makes sense though praticing and rehersing is not my cup of tea either you end up with an overpolished product that has no 'you' in it.

Anyway realised this entry is getting uber long so shall end it here. Probably as you guys would have guessed i am bored stiff seriously nothing to do now and dun feel like starting to study yet probably later bah...huh? maybe shall see how...and if you'll have not guessed, this entry is by me...Adam. you must really not know me at all to think it was done by someone else...bye!
